La Veritá
Desde el 28 de abril hasta el 11 de mayo tendrá lugar La Veritá,
inspirada en la vida de uno de los máximos exponentes del surrealismo,
Salvador Dalí. La obra, dirigida por el suizo Daniele Finzi Pasca,
propone una incursión teatral y acrobática que en esta ocasión será
acompañada de un gigantesco telón, pintado por el maestro español en
1940 para su versión de Tristán e Isolda. Este trabajo se estrenó el 17
de enero en Montreal y el auditorio Adela Reta es el segundo escenario
elegido.
Jazz Tour: Salif Keita
Este año el Jazz Tour se luce con grandes artistas, entre los que se
destaca Salif Keita, “la voz de oro africana”. La producción
discográfica del músico nacido en Malí tiene elementos de jazz, funk y
soul. Actuará en el auditorio Adela Reta en junio. Resta confirmar la
fecha.
Tercera Edición del Festival Internacional de Artes Escénicos: Casanova
En su tercera edición el Festival Internacional de Artes Escénicas trae
representaciones de diversos países. Una de las más esperadas es
Casanova, que cuenta con la actuación del afamado John Malcovich
acompañado de la Orquesta de Viena. Resta confirmar la sala y la fecha
de la presentación.
Francisco Camacho
La actuación en Montevideo del bailarín portugués Francisco Camacho
ofrece una perspectiva diferente a lo que está habituado el público del
Teatro Solís. Sus presentaciones Nossa senhora das flores y O rei no
exilio serán observadas por los espectadores desde el escenario. Habrá
dos únicas funciones: 12 y 13 de marzo.
El Ballet Nacional del Sodre
abre su temporada 2013 con La sílfide. Esta historia de amor, que cuenta
con la dirección artística del maestro Julio Bocca, se presenta en el
auditorio Adela Reta entre el 14 y el 24 de marzo.

Hoy a la noche actuaremos con la orq. COLORTANGO!!! que placer bailar en
vivo con ellos.
Hoy me di cuenta que hace 6 años vine a Bs as para hacer un show con
ellos, fue mi primer show en esta ciudad y lo hice esa vez sin saber que
seguiria surgiendo mas trabajo y esas circunstancias harian que esta
ciudad se convirtiera en uno de los lugares donde paso viviendo gran
parte del tiempo cada año. sin pensarlo, sin planearlo la vida te lleva
por nuevos caminos
Ese show de hace 6 años fue el dia de mi cumpleaños, pense que ese era
el regalo pero con todo lo que vino luego me di cuenta que era un regalo
mucho mas grande.
Hoy a 1 semana de un nuevo cumple bailo con ellos de nuevo. suerte que
ya hace tiempo que no creo en las casualidades jeje :D . eso es lo mas
lindo de la vida, el misterio, la aventura ...!!

se inaugura la semana de La Cumparsita! A partir de la hora 18:30 en la
plaza Independencia comenzamos a celebrar el aniversario 96 de La
Cumparsita con una programación imperdible que se extenderá hasta el 26
de abril. Mañana a la hora 19, en avenida 18 de Julio y Andes, se
relanzará el Monumento Sonoro en homenaje al himno de los tangos. Y
todos los días del año a las 12.00 y a las 18.30 se emitirá una de las
mil versiones que existen de “La Cumparsita”. También será el
lanzamiento del Día del Patrimonio 2013, que tendrá al Tango como eje
temático. Al cierre actuará la orquesta de Nelson Alberti y habrá una
milonga callejera frente al palacio Salvo, con musicalización de
Verónica Báez.

Creado y dirigido por el periodista, escritor y docente Antonio Pippo,
“TANGO ÍNTIMO” es un recorrido por la vida del tango clásico, en este
caso centrándose en la figura de Gerardo Hernán Mattos Rodríguez y su
máxima obra, que redescubre temas e historias y que se va tejiendo en un
formato dinámico, entretenido y coloquial.
El elenco de “TANGO ÍNTIMO” está integrado por Ricardo Aguinaga
(bandoneón), Gonzalo Pérez (guitarra), Enrique Carli (voz), Antonio
Pippo (narraciones y poemas) y la pareja de primeros bailarines y
coreógrafos Andres Parrado y Erica Olivera.-

***RULES***
The 4th European Tango Championship consists of the following
categories: Salon Tango and Stage Tango for Couples (entry for amateur
and professional dancers is unrestricted for both ).
Management:
The highest authority of reference for the competition - for all matters
concerning the application of all provisions of this regulation - will
be Dirección General de Festivales y Eventos Centrales. For all concerns
the organization of the event, the Official European Branch will be
responsible (the Cultural Association European Tango Society) as
stipulated in the Agreement of Cooperation signed with the Dirección
General de Festivales y Eventos Centrales of the Ministry of Culture the
Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. To this end, the Organization will
establish in Annex I of this Regulation, the details of the dates and
enrollment, additional awards and special mentions to those laid down in
this Regulation.
Registration:
Couples from any nationality can register, given that they can prove a
minimum of 3 (three) years of residence in a country of the European
continent, participants must be at least 18 years on the date of
beginning of the Championship.
The European continent includes the following countries: Albania,
Andorra, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and
Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Vatican City, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia,
Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece , Iceland, Italy, Kazakhstan,
Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova,
Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, United
Kingdom, Czech Republic, Republic of Ireland, the Republic of Macedonia,
Romania , Russia, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain,
Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, Hungary, Israel.
No one can compete two or more times in the same category, but couples
can compete in several categories, with the same or a different partner.
Each couple can represent just one country among the nation of
residence or birth of one or of the two partners of the couple.
To register, each of the parties concerned must follow formalities
(according to time and manner specified) that the organization has
established and published: 1) - Complete the Application Form published
online on official website of the European Tango Championship 2013:
www.eutango.com or 2) - Send the same information required in the form
on-line, by mail at the following e-mail: eutangoasd@gmail.com.
The registration will be confirmed after the full payment of the
participation fee.
Entry
Accreditation for all participants will take place in the date and time
indicated by the organization, and participants must present a document
of identity.
At the accreditation, all Participants will receive their number of
order and they’ll be informed about dates, locations and approximate
time of their presentations in the different phases of competition for
the corresponding category.
Those who won’t accredit will not participate in the Championship. Any
delay will be taken into account only beyond documented circumstances,
save the case in which due causes to general situations that result of
public dominion is invoked.
All the information provided for accreditation will be considered a
sworn statement. Any contradiction in the information, subsequent to the
signature, will be penalized by subtraction of points, disqualification
from the competition or any other measure the Management may consider
appropriate.
At the accreditation, participants must inform the organization if
within 180 days before the Championship have kept some working
relationship, professional or personal with one or more jurors of the
Championship.
The identity card and the accreditation form shall also be presented
before each stage of the competition.
All participants in the Championship – whether called - undertake to
take part in all the various acts and events planned by the Management,
such press conferences, interviews on radio or television, etc...
The competition
The competition in both categories, will take place in 3 (three) stages:
a) classification, b) and c Semi-finals) Finals.
a) Classification: all the couples registered for the competition will
participate. All the couples Will dance twice (on the same day or on
different days, depending on the program established by the
Organization).
b) Semi-finals: competing couples who have been selected in the
classification phase will participate.
c) Final: The winning couple of the pre-mentioned competition phases and
couple winners from the national local branch around Europe will
participate.
In the Tango Salon category, the couples will compete in group dancing 3
(three) tracks, recorded or live, chosen by the Organization.
In the category Tango Escenario, each pair will compete individually,
dancing a song chosen independently. This may not exceed the maximum
duration of 4 (four) minutes and must be given to the Organization in CD
format (2 original copies in good condition).
Given that the jury will consider the variety of choreography to be
presented, it is recommended to present several options for each
choreography round of classification performance. This point is
considered optional and not exclusionary.
The Organization shall have the right to eliminate from the competition
participants who:
a) do not comply with the provisions of Regulation
b) incur any lack ethics or do anything to damage the image of the
Championship or cause harm to the public.
In order to ensure impartiality and professional integrity of the jury,
all participants will not take part in seminars, workshops and lectures
held by members of the jury, until being out of the competition.
The Jury
In both categories the Jury will have a minimum of 4 (four) members,
who, knowing and approving the regulations of the Championship - and
agreeing to respect it - will determine the score of the participating
couples. The Dirección de Festivales will designate – in agreement with
European Tango Society - 2 (two) judges. The rest of the jury will be
complemented by the proposed by European Tango Society and approved by
the Direccion de Festivales.
All decisions of the Jury will be final and sole arbiter. Participants,
for the sole fact of enrolling, accept this condition. In case of any
doubt or dispute, the interested parties may submit a written request
(in Italian or English) Organization and NOT directly to the jury.
Any member of the jury who have had a business relationship or any other
relationship with one or more participants during a period of at least 6
months, must refrain from issuing their opinion on the candidate in
question. To this end will be taken into account the voluntary
statements of the jurors, as well as information provided by
participants at the time of enrollment. In this case, to obtain the
final score of the pair, the Jury will add up the scores of the judges
and the sum will be divided by the number of jurors who will actually
expressed their vote.
The results of each phase of the competition will emerge from the sum of
points awarded by each member of the jury on a scale from 1 to 10,
according to the parameters described in the following paragraph.
The jury will select, for each category, a winning couple. The Jury may
also confer awards and special mentions for second and third place (in
accordance with European Tango Society).
In exceptional circumstances (stage, accidents on the stage, etc.) the
jury may require competitors to dance once again, and participants
cannot refrain from doing so. In case of equal score a tie, the couples
who have obtained the same score in the finals, will dance a final round
in the category of tango salon, or submit a new choreography for the
tango Escenario category, so that the Jury can elect the winning couple.
Veedor:
The Veedor will be indicated by the Dirección General de Festivales y
Eventos Centrales and will be responsible for ensuring the
implementation of this Regulation, as well as properly solve any problem
not covered in this regulation and give the rules of interpretation
that may be necessary.
Evaluation Criteria
. Tango Salon (Unrestricted Entry, Amateurs and Professionals)
Once a couple is formed, the partners shall not separate as long as the
music is playing. This means that the embrace, which is considered the
tango dance position, cannot be broken.
For the position to be considered correct, the partners must constantly
hold each other by means of the embrace. Despite the fact that during
certain figures this may be flexible, this should not continue
throughout the entire piece.
All movements shall be performed within the space allowed by the
couple's embrace.
Couples, as in a real dancehall, shall constantly move counterclockwise
and try to avoid remaining in the same place for too long, obstructing
the normal circulation of dancers around the dance floor. No contestant
may raise his/her legs above the knee line.
The Jury will evaluate the couple's musicality and walking style as
fundamental to the qualification.
Within these guidelines, participants may perform any figure commonly
used, including barridas (sweeps), sacadas al piso (close to the floor),
enrosques (twists), etc. Ganchos (leaps), saltos (jumps), trepadas
(climbs) and any other typical choreographic stage tango possibility
shall be completely excluded..
. Tango Escenario (free participation for amateurs and professionals)
Participants will be able to express their personal view on the tango
dance. This implies that they may resort to movements, figures and
applications not usually related to traditional tango.
Couples may break the embrace and use additional techniques derived from
other dance disciplines, as long as these are justified and performed
for the benefit of a particular performance.
Film and Photographs
The Management of the 4th European Tango Championship has the right to
register and / or film all instances of the Championship using any type
of media known or unknown, including – without any limitation – video
and television recording, recording, photography, scanning,
digitization, either directly or through authorized third parties in
order to promote and publicize the event. The recordings obtained are
exclusive property of the Organization, that must deliver a copy, as
stated in the Agreement of Cooperation, to Dirección General de
Festivales y Eventos Centrales. The only entry to the Championship means
the express and irrevocably consent, by the participants, to the use of
made recordings, and it will not involve the payment of any kind of
duty for any reason by the Management of the 4th European Tango
Championship or by Dirección General de Festivales y Eventos Centrales
to any person or organization that will attribute to himself the
paternity on the rights that can be invoked.
This clause also includes - without limitation - the photographic
material that will be published and / or that will be used for the
promotion, advertising, etc..
Prizes
There shall be one winning or champion couple in each category of the
European Championship (Preliminary Championship to the X Tango Dance
World Championship TANGO BUENOS AIRES 2013).
The first prize in each category will be borne by the Organization and
consists of two return airline ticket from Rome to Buenos Aires,
including taxes, travel costs and accommodation with room and board for
the days when the finals of the Tango Dance World Championship 2013 will
be disputed, in the month of August.
In addition, the second and third places will receive prizes and
honorary mentions.
All contestants will receive the 4th European tango Championship
Attendance Certificates.
Each participant, by entering and receiving clearance, establishes that
he/she knows and accepts all the Championship provisions stated in this
document.
Registration:
The registration and participation in the Championship in both
categories will have a cost of 90 € (Euro) for each couple in each
category.
Those interested can register from the April 8 until June 15, 2013,
retaining the Organization may extend this date if it deems it
necessary.

Cabe señalar, que este año el Teatro Alianza está celebrando cuarenta
años de trayectoria, y según dijo Alicia Bonavía, del departamento de
cultura de la institución, “lo vamos a festejar con mucho teatro y del
bueno”.
También con dirección de Álvaro Ahunchain en julio llegará el estreno de
la obra “Escenas de la vida conyugal”, la obra de Ingmar Bergman.

Tango in China
Love, emotion, exoticism, dance, music, poetry, Argentina, history,
politics, pampas, bandoneon, hegemony, colonialism, nostalgia…It’s
difficult for us to find a word with so many meanings in a dictionary,
but there is one word which can string all of these together, and that
is tango.
Tango, originating in Buenos Aires, Argentina, stretches its steps
all the way to Europe, North American and Asian in the past century.
When the dance first appeared in Argentina, tango was an erotic and
sexual dance which was danced secretly. In the early 1900s, it came to
the entertainment center of the world?Paris, where tango became popular
immediately. Tango was reshaped and promoted by Paris, and became more
elegant and more fashionable. And then, with tango dancers travelling
around the world and tango movies coming up to the screen, the exotic
dance was soon known by people in London and New York, and in many other
countries in the world.
What about tango in China? The two books we use for this course didn’t
mention it. So I searched the internet for it. To my surprise,
information about Tango on Chinese websites is very limited.
Fortunately, I still found some interesting things about the exotic
tango in China, a country which is also quite exotic to tango.
Tango dance mainly appears in four big cities in China: Beijing,
Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei.
In the two metropolises of mainland China, Shanghai and Beijing, there
are some tango societies which were founded by people who are attracted
to Argentine culture, love tango, dance tango and teach tango. There is a
famous tango bar in Shanghai, TangoBang (“bang” means gang in Chinese).
TangoBang was created by a Chinese couple, Vivian and Charles, through
the love of Argentina Tango. Vivian and Charles have been dancing as a
couple since 2005. They were inspired by teachers in the Taipei Tango
Association (TTA, a well-known tango society to many Asian tango
dancers, I’ll mention it later), have been to Argentina to learn more
and deeper about tango, and have attended workshop and private lessons
from tango masters from Argentina. TangoBang is a bar and restaurant, as
well as training studio, which is inspired by the Argentine Tango. The
decoration, wines list and menu here are all inspired by Argentina
Tango. It not only provides a perfect place for tango dancers in
Shanghai to gather and dance, but also provides various levels of
Argentine tango class and holds tango events. As a result, according to
Vivian’s words, many tango dancers from different countries all over the
world see TangoBang as their dream place.
However, all these tango societies are very young (TangoBang was just
founded in this April), and the development of tango in mainland China
has only just begun. To know more about it, I sent an email to Vivian.
According to her reply, Argentine tango has been gaining prominence in
Shanghai since about 6 years ago when a couple from Taiwan, Super and
Eva, called on those who share their interest in tango to practice the
dance with them, and thus started the spread of the culture of Argentine
tango in Shanghai. Tango came to Beijing 1 or 2 years later than
Shanghai. Shanghai city is fond of this Argentine tango today. However,
the amount of people who dance Argentine tango is still limited, much
less than those who dance Salsa and Swing, of which the requirements for
beginners are lower than Argentine tango. Usually there are 30 dancers
or so in a weekly milonga, which is almost the same in Beijing, where
there would be 3 different organizers holding milongas each week.
Compared to the situation in Shanghai and Beijing, tango in Hong Kong
and Taipei developed much quickly. There are a lot of wonderful tango
societies and tango dancers in these two cities, such as the Taipei
Tango Association (TTA). TTA was constructed at the beginning of 2000,
and it is the first non-profit organization in Taiwan that focuses on
popularizing traditional Argentine tango and devotes itself to
expressing and spreading the original flavor of tango. Many tango
teachers in mainland China learned tango from the tango dancers in TTA,
and then went back to mainland China to teach. As a result, the Tango
societies in Taiwan and Hong Kong are key factors in promoting Tango in
mainland China.
Is Tango new to China? In fact, tango did not just appear in China in
past few years. Chinese know the word “tango” for many years. And there
was even a song called “Chinese Tango” sung by a Japanese singer in
1939. But why have people in mainland China just started to learn the
dance in recent years? I guess it is because of several reasons. First,
at the early 1900s, when it was a golden age for Argentine tango
spreading around the world, China was suffering a lot of terrible
changes, conflicts and wars, both domestic and international. The things
which Chinese people at that time mostly worried about were where to
live, what to eat and even whether they could survive, rather than
looking for ways to enjoy themselves, relax and express emotions. So it
was impossible for tango to become popular in China at that time.
Second, Chinese traditional culture is so conservative that a woman
would be considered raffish if she walked too close to a man before
reform and openness. Although after reshaped by Paris, Argentine tango
now is not as erotic as before, it is still a sexy dance with close
touching and flirtation, too sexy for many traditional Chinese. Third,
there have already been a variety of dances in China, so Chinese people
have their own dances to relax and express their feelings, thus they
don’t need the exotic Argentine tango so badly.
Why has tango in Taipei and Hong Kong developed much better than in
mainland China? I think it is because these two places had been
colonially governed by western countries for many years. During the
colonialism, Western culture penetrated into every corner of the local
culture. There were also many Western people too, some of whom may have
brought exotic dances in to these two cities. As a result, it was much
easier for the culture of Argentine tango to enter the two cities and
become popular.
Taiwan even has its own tango. There are 5 kinds of tango in the world,
according to several websites on the internet. Argentine tango, British
tango, American tango, Taiwanese tango and ballroom tango. The following
four tangos originate from Argentine tango, but include some different
developments and changes. Taiwanese tango was imported by an American
army that was staying in Taiwan during the Korean War and Vietnam War.
In other words, American tango is the predecessor of Taiwanese tango,
and it developed into Taiwanese tango through the creativity of
Taiwanese dancers. Taiwanese tango is not as romantic and passionate as
Argentine tango, but its dance step is so diverse and complicated that
it makes Taiwanese tango so unique. Some people also say that Taiwanese
tango is a combination of Argentine tango, British tango and American
tango. However, Taiwanese tango is not just a combination but a sui
generis tango because it compromise tango with the tempo and the speed
of Taiwan local music.
While tango in China is still not as frequently danced as it is in
western countries, the word “tango” has been used more frequently
throughout recent decades. One of the extended meanings for “dance
tango” in Chinese is similar to “it takes two to tango” in English. When
we say two parties are dancing tango together, we mean that these two
parties are competing with each other as well as cooperating with each
other, or that two competing parties are doing something simultaneously.
When “tango” is mentioned in China, most people would think of elegance
and grace. I found a chain hotel in Taiwan called “the Tango Hotel” on
the internet. I thought it might be like some place as TangoBang, that
held tango events, gave tango lessons, and provided a place for people
who travel for tango to live. But after I read trough all its websites, I
realized that I was totally wrong. This hotel has nothing to do with
tango. So I sent an email to its manager, asking why they use this name.
“We would like to use the word 'Tango' because it represents a graceful
life style,” he answered. The Tango Hotel provides guests with an
experience of elegance and glamour, and a place to relax and settle
their spirit after tons of work in the hustle and bustle city. It is
just the feeling that tango brings to Chinese.

Es tremendo, se que cada vez que lo vea va a pasar esto e incluso a mis

Solo puedo discernir esa voz maravillosa que balancea las imagenes,una

Ya Barquito de Papel me habia anunciado que hay una sintesis muy rara,no
exclusivamente uruguaya,sino mas llena de sol y menos de gris,una
renovacion de lo antiguo,que es lo que estamos necesitando,un cause mas
universal de la uruguayez,de lo brasileño incluso,de la influencia
caribeña y del hispanico,eso,lo hispanoamericano en general.
Esta presion que ejerci sobre tu talento fue porque vi que desde Rada no
habia otro heredero,y aunque respeto a Drexler,faltaba el heredero,

nunca sera demasiado lejos.
